Taco Bell unveils massive, secret vegetarian menu... 5,700,000 choices massive

Irvine, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2016) – To kick off Vegetarian Awareness Month and World Vegetarian Day on October 1, Taco Bell is giving vegetarians some choices to taco about: 5,700,000 million of them. No, that’s not a typo. Taco Bell has nearly six million vegetarian options.

As the first and only Quick Service Restaurant to be certified by the American Vegetarian Association, Taco Bell has offered 12 vegetarian menu items and 36 vegetarian ingredients (27 of which are also vegan). Now Taco Bell wants meatless fans to know that these certified vegetarian ingredients can be combined to create more than 5,700,000 customized Mexican-inspired vegetarian tacos, burritos, Crunchwraps and more. From the popular Bean and Cheese Burrito to the Egg & Cheese Breakfast Taco or 5,699,998 other options, Taco Bell’s vegetarian menu champions choices that go way beyond just sides, salads and one-off sandwiches or veggie burgers that make meatless eating mundane.

“This month, and every month of the year, we want vegetarians and flexitarians to know that delicious, craveable, affordable meals aren’t limited for our meat-eating friends,” said Missy Schaaphok, Taco Bell’s registered dietitian and menu developer. “Our fans have long customized their favorite foods, and we’re unveiling our ‘not-so-little’ secret that Taco Bell sets the standard when it comes to vegetarian options too.”

5,700,000 is such a huge number and it might be difficult for some people to wrap their head around it, so here are some scenarios to put it into perspective.
 •   If you enjoyed one Taco Bell vegetarian option a day, it would take 15,616 years to eat your way through the entire list.
 •   Don’t have that much time on your hands? Up the enjoyment to three Taco Bell vegetarian options a day and it will only take 5,205 years to finish the full menu.
 •   To put it another way, printing the list of vegetarian options would be 228,000 pages long, approximately 456 reams of paper. (Please be green and just trust us on that one).
