Taco Bell® Stays True To Southern California Roots, Renews Lease In Irvine

Irvine, Calif. (January 31, 2019) – Taco Bell, America’s #1 Mexican Restaurant, will remain headquartered in Southern California until 2030. The global brand has agreed to an 11-year lease extension for its Restaurant Support Center at the 1 Glen Bell Way location in Irvine. Taco Bell has spent all of its nearly 57 years of business in Southern California and moved into its current building in 2010. The lease agreement with property owners LBA Realty was facilitated by Cushman & Wakefield’s Irvine office.

“As a brand with Southern California in our DNA, we’re excited to remain in Irvine and continue to grow where we have deep roots,” said Frank Tucker, Chief People Officer, Taco Bell Corp. “The unrivaled talent and culture at our Restaurant Support Center makes this a great place to work and will take Taco Bell to new heights right where we started.”

Since its founding in 1962 by Glen Bell, Taco Bell has been headquartered in Palos Verdes and Torrance before settling into Irvine more than 40 years ago. The lease extension also means plans for the saved, original Taco Bell, “Numero Uno,” will move forward. Additional information and details will be shared later this year.

“We are pleased Taco Bell has decided to make this long-term commitment to remain at 1 Glenn Bell Way and we look forward to continuing to partner with them to create a great environment for their employees and visitors,” said Brad Neglia, Principal of LBA Realty.

The LEED certified building stands five stories tall with 180,000 square feet of space with an open floor plan housing more than 800 corporate and contracted employees. Currently, the building’s amenities include onsite childcare, dining center, salon, full gym with fitness classes, game room, dry cleaning and carwash services as well as a tasting panel for employees to test new products. The tasting panel is part of the larger Test Kitchen, where all of the Taco Bell innovation happens.

Taco Bell prides itself on its recognition-based culture and is focused on growing and developing inspirational leaders throughout the organization. The company hosts unique cultural events year-round, including recess at work, annual Halloween celebration, and an employee art show benefiting the Taco Bell Foundation, as well as offers continuous leadership programs for employees to continue to grow. With 7,000 restaurants worldwide, Taco Bell has still managed to maintain its startup mentality, fostering creativity through an entrepreneurial mindset. Taco Bell has been named one of the “Top 10 Most Innovative Brands in the World” by Fast Company and the “Best Mexican Restaurant in the US” by a recent Harris Poll.

There are currently more than 7,000 restaurants in 28 countries, generating more than $10B in global system sales. Taco Bell will continue to work towards its commitment to creating 100,000 new U.S. jobs by 2022. They recently revealed their 2019 Commitments showcasing the brand’s first vegetarian menu, increased scholarship funding and package recyclability.
