Not Your Granny’s Apples

Or are they? It’s that time of year again. The days are getting shorter and those brightly colored leaves are falling all around you. That chill in the air is the sign you’ve been waiting for. It’s finally time to unpack your favorite wooly sweater and take a mid-afternoon stroll.

As you head out the door and down the street, you hear it. Soft and faint at first… Like a whisper… Almost not there are all. Did someone say “Apples”? Then, down the street, you catch a glimpse of her. It’s the kind hearted granny who lives in the old house at the end of the street. To her left, an old weathered wheelbarrow piled high with freshly picked green apples. “Apples?” she says again invitingly. You walk up to her stand, leaves crunching under your feet. She greets you with a warm smile… and then a soft “Hello”. She asks if you would like to sample something special, to which you reply… “Yes”. She pauses, and stares deeply into your eyes, her smile widens, and without looking away she reaches behind her stand and pulls out a tall frozen drink. It’s green… and there is a straw sticking out of it. Before you take your first sip you wonder… Could this possibly be the new Green Apple Freeze? After that sip you know… it IS. Your eyes close as you savor that familiar tart apple flavor you love so much.
