“WRITER’S
STRIKE SAUCE WISDOMS” CONTEST: Taco Bell Corp. (“Sponsor”)
provides entrants with an opportunity to have their Taco
Bell “words of wisdom” immortalized on the
Company’s popular sauce packets and to win a year’s
supply of Taco Bell® food. Writer’s Guild of
America members can visit www.tacobell.com from January
29 to February 24, 2008 and submit a saying that provides
a humorous look at reality through the eyes of the Taco
Bell brand. Up to ten entrants may have their “Wisdoms”
printed on sauce packets distributed at Taco Bell®
restaurants nationwide.
1. HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO PLAY OR WIN. Beginning at 12:01
P.M. (PT) on January 29, 2008, complete the “WRITER’S
STRIKE SAUCE WISDOMS” Contest registration page
online at www.tacobell.com, and submit a sauce wisdom
for consideration. All required fields on the registration
page must be completed. ALL ONLINE ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED
BY 11:59 P.M. PT ON FEBRUARY 24, 2008. Enter as often as
you wish; however, each Wisdom must be different. All
entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be
returned. Entries are subject to the terms of the Taco
Bell web site Privacy Statement and these Official Rules.
Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected,
incomplete, or illegible entries.
2. ELIGIBILITY. Open only
to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and
the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older
at time of entry. Entrants must also be a member of the
Writers Guild of America as of January 29, 2008. This
promotion is solely sponsored by Taco Bell Corp. and has
not been approved or endorsed by any other entity or organization.
Employees of Taco Bell Corp. and its parent, franchisees,
licensees, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotional,
or public relations agencies, and immediate family (parent,
child, sibling and spouse and "step" of each)
and household members of such employees are not eligible
to participate. This Contest shall be conducted in compliance
with all applicable U.S. Federal, state, and local laws
and regulations. Void where prohibited by law.
3. PRIZES. Ten (10) “WRITER’S
STRIKE SAUCE WISDOMS” contest prizes will be awarded.
Each winner will each receive a year’s supply of
Taco Bell food (awarded in the form of one $5 Taco Bell
gift check per week for 52 weeks, redeemable at participating
Taco Bell® locations). Approximate retail value of
each prize is $260.00. Total ARV of all prizes: $2,600.00.
Winner may also have the opportunity to have his/her “Wisdom”
printed on sauce packets distributed at participating
Taco Bell® restaurants nationwide, at the sole discretion
of the Sponsor. Taco Bell gift checks are subject to the
terms and conditions on the gift checks. All taxes on
the prizes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the
winners.
4. WINNER SELECTION. A
total of 10 winners will be selected from among all eligible
entries received. All sauce wisdoms will be judged by
a panel of judges based on the following criteria (with
each criterion given equal weight):
• HUMOR: The Wisdom must be humorous and shed light
on how Taco Bell fits into everyday experiences. It should
be blindingly obvious, creative and provide insight on
the little things in life, such as anything from going
on a date to eating a meal. The message must be simple,
thought-provoking and add fun to the Taco Bell dining
experience.
• ORIGINALITY: The Wisdom must be an original creation
and must not infringe the rights of any third party.
• LENGTH: The Wisdom may not exceed a total of 70
characters (including any spacing and punctuation).
• SUITABILITY FOR USE: The Wisdom may not be used
as a marketing tool to promote non-Taco Bell products
or services, or any individuals, contain any property
owned by an third parties such as trademarks or copyrighted
material. The Wisdom may not be gender biased, have any
religious or sexual overtones, support or endorse a position,
or be offensive in any manner.
The 10 entries with the
highest overall scores will be the winners. In the event
of a tie, the entry with the highest "humor"
score will be the winner (and if another tie-breaker required,
the highest score in "originality" will be used
to break the tie), unless the winner is a resident of
Wisconsin, in which case, duplicate prizes will be awarded.
Judges’ decisions are final. Sponsor reserves the
right to award fewer than 5 prizes in the event there
is not a sufficient number of qualified entries. Sponsor
reserves the right not to publish any winning Wisdom's
on sauce packets or otherwise.
5. WINNER NOTIFICATION.
Winners will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail on
or about April 15, 2008. If Sponsor is unable to contact
a winner within three (3) days of first attempted notification,
winner’s right to claim a prize will be forfeited
and an alternate winner may be selected. Winners will
be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility
and Liability/Publicity Release (“Release Documents”)
within five (5) days of notification or prize may be forfeited.
If a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable,
the prize will be forfeited in its entirety and an alternate
winner may be selected. Sponsor is not responsible for
changes to entrant's email address, telephone number and/or
mailing address In the event of a dispute regarding the
identity of an online entrant, the entry will be deemed
submitted by the person in whose name the e-mail account
is registered, provided that person meets all of the eligibility
criteria set forth in Section 2 of these Official Rules.
6. INTERNET. Sponsor is
not responsible for any late, lost, incomplete, or misdirected
entries, or for technical problems in connection with
the transmission or receipt of electronic entry, including
faulty electronic data transmission, traffic congestion
on the Internet or on the web site, hardware or software
error, equipment failure or malfunction, or other online
communications problems. No liability or responsibility
is assumed by Sponsor resulting from user’s attempt
to participate in the Contest or download any information
in connection with participating in the Contest. CAUTION:
ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB
SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATIONS OF THE CONTEST
IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH
ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES
FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED
BY LAW. IN THE EVENT THE CONTEST IS COMPROMISED BY VIRUS,
BUGS, NON-AUTHORIZED HUMAN INTERVENTION OR OTHER CAUSES
BEYOND THE CONTROL OF SPONSOR WHICH CORRUPTS OR IMPAIRS
THE ADMINISTRATION, SECURITY, FAIRNESS OR PROPER PLAY
OF THE CONTEST, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT IN ITS SOLE
DISCRETION TO MODIFY, SUSPEND OR TERMINATE THE ELECTRONIC
PORTION OF THIS CONTEST, AND TO AWARD THE PRIZES FROM
AMONG ALL ELIGIBLE ENTRIES RECEIVED PRIOR TO ACTION TAKEN
BY SPONSOR.
7. OTHER CONDITIONS. Submission
of an entry constitutes the entrant’s consent to
irrevocably assign and transfer to Sponsor any and all
rights, title and interest in the entry including, without
limitation, all copyrights. By entering this Contest entrants
grant Sponsor and its agents the right to modify, adapt,
edit, sell, publish and/ or use the entry in any way,
in whole or in part, in commerce and in any and all media
worldwide without limitation and without payment or consideration
to the entrant. Prizes cannot be transferred, assigned,
redeemed for cash or substituted, except at Sponsor’s
sole discretion as provided herein.
8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY.
By participating, entrants agree (a) to abide by and be
bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the
judges, which shall be final and binding; (b) to the use
of their names and/or likenesses for advertising and publicity
purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited
by law; and (c) to release Sponsor, its parent company
and franchisees/licensees, their respective affiliates,
subsidiaries, agents, award supplier, and their respective
officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives
from all liability in connection with any prize received
in this Contest or from participating in this Contest
or any prize-related activities or for the use by Sponsor
of the Wisdom submitted. Entrants waive the right to assert,
as a cost of receiving prize, any and all costs of redemption.
9. WINNER LIST. For the
names of the SHARE YOUR SAUCE WISDOM winners, send a self-addressed
envelope before June 1, 2008 to Taco Bell Corp., “WRITER’S
STRIKE SAUCE WISDOMS” WINNER LIST, 17901 Von Karman,
Irvine, CA 92614, ATTN: PUBLIC RELATIONS.
