To honor our founder, Glen Bell, and to support our valued employees, Taco Bell Corp. established the Glen Bell Scholarship Program. The program provides financial assistance to qualified TACO BELL employees continuing their education - in college or vocational schools. Scholarships are offered for full- and part-time* study at accredited educational institutions.

The Glen Bell Scholarship Program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America. - a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization. The organization seeks to involve and assist the business community in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement. Scholarship awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, gender, or disability.

To be eligible for scholarship funds, applicants must be:
Hourly employees (Team Members and Shift Managers) of TACO BELL or its Franchisees/Licensees who work at least 15 hours per week and have a minimum of six months continuous employment within the TACO BELL system (includes TACO BELL multibrand restaurants) as of the application deadline.

High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll, or students who are already enrolled, in a full- or part-time* undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four- year college, university, vocational-technical school or graduate school. (Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.)

TACO BELL employees selected for Glen Bell Scholarships will receive an award of $2,000 or $1,000. Awards of $2,000 will be granted to students attending four-year colleges, universities or graduate schools. Awards of $1,000 each will be granted to students attending two-year colleges or vocational-technical schools. Awards are not renewable; however, students may re-apply each year if they meet eligibility requirements.

Interested employees must complete the application and mail it, along with a current, complete transcript of grades and requested documents, to Scholarship America postmarked no later than April 1, 2008. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course and term in which each course was taken. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment card is not received within three weeks of the application deadline, applicants may call Scholarship America to verify that the application has been received.

Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applicants should answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. The employee eligibilities of potential recipients will be verified by Taco Bell.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. A letter of recommendation does not replace the Applicant Appraisal section of the application. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer, director or management representative of TACO BELL or its Franchisees/Licensees play a part in the selection process. All applicants agree to accept the decision of Scholarship America as final.

Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Scholarship America processes Glen Bell scholarship payments on behalf of TACO BELL. Payments are made in equal installments on August 15, 2008 and December 15, 2008. Checks are mailed to each recipient's home address and are made payable to the school for the student.

Scholarship recipients are required to be continuously employed by TACO BELL at the time the Glen Bell scholarship checks are issued, or they will lose eligibility to receive the payment(s). Recipients are required to supply Scholarship America with complete transcripts when requested and to notify Scholarship America of any changes of address, school enrollment, or other relevant information.

TACO BELL reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of the Glen Bell Scholarship Program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.
